Join artist Mike Kimball in creating distinctive prints using the drypoint intaglio printmaking technique. With this technique, an image is directly scratched into a printing plate with an etching needle, inked and printed, yielding a print with the distinctive soft and sensuous line that only drypoint can produce. The versatile drypoint technique requires no chemicals or plate preparation, allowing artists to make plates in any location, including outdoors.
In this class, you'll complete a small portfolio of prints of your own design. No prior printmaking experience is required for this workshop, and all tools and non-toxic materials and inks are provided. Bring your own preliminary drawing or do plein air sketching around downtown Silver City to use as your images for this exciting drypoint etching workshop.
