PRINT RALLY!
REGISTRATION OPENS MAY 17
The Print Rally is a live printmaking activity where artists create a small edition of prints from start to finish in a two-hour window. As the prints are hung to dry, they are also available for viewing and immediate purchase. The public is invited to watch the entire process, from conceptualization, sketching, carving, proofing, and finally printing.
We welcome print processes of all kinds. However, since this will be a quick turnaround event, more immediate techniques such as linocut, drypoint etching, monoprints, etc may be most appropriate.
This will be a juried event, so we can ensure that a variety of techniques and styles are represented.
Please fill out the application form by June 30. We will notify selected artists by July 15.
The Print Rally will take place at MERGE art space in Silver City, NM on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
We will have two groups of artists working that day - the first group will print from 10am-12pm and the second group will print from 12:30-2:30pm.
SWPF will provide most materials for the event:
+ Tables and chairs
+ 2 mini etching presses
+ One Woodzilla relief press
+ Arnhem paper, cut to 10x10”
+ Akua ink
+ Unmounted battleship gray linoleum in various sizes
+ ⅛” Plexi in various sizes
+ Etching needles and basic lino carving tools
+ Brayers and ink knives
+ A variety of other tools such as scissors, X-acto knives, pencils, Sharpies, mylar, tracing paper, etc
+ Rags and cleaning supplies
Participants are welcome to bring their own reference materials, carving tools, inks, paper (must be cut to 10x10”) or any preferred or specialized tools or supplies.
Artists must offer their prints for sale at the event, ideally priced between $25-50/each.
Artists will handle their own sales and will keep 100% of their sales.
Artists will retail all right to their works created at the event.
Artists will donate one print to SWPF for our archive, marketing, and future fundraising.
