Blurring The Lines

The 2025 Juried Exhibition asks artists to consider what aspects of their work blend or diffuse specific boundaries or lines. Do elements share some common ground? Or is there a complex weaving of elements, making it hard to separate or identify them individually? What is obscured and what is revealed?

Juror Anna Hepler is based in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She is currently a visiting faculty member in the print studios at Smith College in Northampton, MA. Hepler works across media, between sculpture and printmaking. Both hand-held and architectural in scale, her work overturns first impressions – wire forms flatten into drawings, clay impersonates metal, plywood coils like rope, plastic inhales and exhales. Hepler values embarrassment, uncertainty, blunder, and fragility as active agents in her studio process.

She has exhibited widely, and her work can be found in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Tate Modern in London, England, and the Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine, amongst others.

This exhibition is sponsored by Southwest Print Fiesta, and hosted & organized by Light Art Space, a contemporary art gallery in downtown Silver City.
