This is a FREE drop-in workshop, open to students of all ages. Stop by between 10-4 to take part in the process of printing an edition of posters from start to finish. Students will have the opportunity to get ink under their fingernails as they make new rules for letterpress printing.
Instructor Bio:
A self-described “humble negro printer,” Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., is internationally recognized for his type-driven messages of social justice and Black power, emblazoned in rhythmically layered and boldly inked prints made for the masses. Kennedy issues fearless statements on race, capitalism, history, and politics—along with plenty of witty truisms—in his exuberant, colorful, and one-of-a-kind posters and handbills.
From Amos: “I am a humble negro printer. I just kinda play around at a printing press.”
