3D Letterpress Ornaments

Workshop Description:
In this fast-paced, hands-on workshop, students will explore printing patterns and found images with multi-color inks on a proof press. These prints will then be taken to the C&P platen press, where you’ll use a polymer plate to print the ornament form and, finally, die cut the pop-out ornament. During the process, you’ll learn how to plan and register multiple runs, as well as the basics of setting up, printing, and die cutting on a platen press. No experience necessary.

Instructor Bio:

Kathryn Hunter is an artist & printer behind Blackbird Letterpress since 2003, creating shaped, movable letterpress cards & notebooks. Working in mixed media & printmaking, her artwork is represented by LeMieux Galleries in New Orleans. She illustrated Everyday Wild, published in 2025. She has taught workshops widely at universities, conferences, Penland School of Crafts, & her own printshop.

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY

A lot of work and investment go into planning our workshops, and vacancies can be hard to fill, even when there’s a wait list. If you need to cancel your registration, please reference this schedule:

For cancellation 30 days or more before the start of your class, you will receive a full refund minus a $25 service fee.

For cancellation 29-14 days before the start of your class, you will receive a 50% refund.

For cancellations within 13 days of the start of class, no refunds will be given.

Workshop cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to info@southwestprintfiesta.org

If it is necessary for Southwest Print Fiesta to cancel a workshop for any reason, students will be notified and offered the choice of a full refund or another class, if space is available. We cannot, however, be responsible for travel or lodging expenses associated with your trip.
